3 DIY Face Mists to Refresh, Calm and Hydrate your skin

Never used a face mist? Well you’re in for a treat! Face mists are becoming more and more popular as they deliver cooling, soothing and refreshing benefits to your skin along with a dewy glow (think Jessica Alba like glow). A quick spritz before heading out or even as a wake up call, will freshen up your skin and give you an instant boost. Try cooling your spritz and applying under your moisturiser for maximum results.

While there are plenty on the market, they are incredibly simple to make, saving you cash and letting you control exactly what you’re putting on your skin. Many face mists contain alcohol or synthetic ingredients that cause dryness and irritation, the exact opposite of what you’re trying to achieve. By customising your own face mist you have the world of natural ingredients before you, to mix, match, change, swap – the combinations are endless. Some of our favourite ingredients include cucumber, mint, rose water and lemon, and that really just is the start.

So next time you have a spare 20 minutes, try creating a range of your own face mists. Here’s 3 of our favourites to get you started.

For a refreshing spritz – Cucumber and Lemon Face Mist

Ingredients
¼ cucumber
½ lemon
Boiling water
Small spritz bottle

To create
Place cucumber slices, lemon peel removed and lemon flesh into a small saucepan. Just cover with boiling water and simmer for 5 min. Remove from the heat and allow to cool. Once cooled, remove the cucumber and lemon pieces and pour liquid into spritz bottle. Use whenever required.

To calm angry, irritated skin – White Tea and Mint Face Mist

Ingredients
2 White Tea tea bags (we love White Jasmine tea from T2)
8 fresh mint leaves
Boiling water
Small spritz bottle

To create
Steep tea bags in a mug of boiling water. Whilst steeping, smash mint leaves between your hands to release the flavours then mix into the mug. Allow to steep for 5 mins then allow to cool. Once cooled, remove the tea bags and mint and pour liquid into spritz bottle. Use whenever required.

For hydration boost – Coconut and Aloe Face Mist

Ingredients
1 glass coconut water
1 glass aloe vera juice
1 teaspoon sweet almond oil
1 teaspoon macadamia oil
Small spritz bottle

To create
Mix all ingredients together well. Pour into a spritz bottle and use whenever required. Ensure you shake before use each time.
Fancy yourself a gardener? Why don’t you try using some of your own grown produce to create a truly custom batch of face mists to share with friends.
